A workshop about Workshop Design! I know. Meta right? Everyone who is interested in creating learning experiences will feel empowered after tonight! During this evening you will be able to transform an idea into a workshop process or enrich your knowledge with different workshop tools.
But just an idea is not enough. You’ll need to (a) really sharpen that idea into a learning purpose: Meaning, what is it you want the participants to learn? And (b) you’ll need to design a process through which the participants will learn.
This workshop will be a mix between theory and actually building your workshop. We’ll dive into a few of the models from the Art of Hosting. Like Divergence-Convergence, The 8 Breaths of Design and The Art of asking Powerful Questions. We’ll get into what needs to be clear before starting to design the session; matching tools with content; your role as a host in creating meaningful conversation; crafting the right invitation; and lastly what happens after the session. And we’ll use frameworks to help you design the process that fit the purpose.
Altogether, this workshop is for everyone who is:
★ Curious about workshop design;
★ Walking around with the idea to organise a workshop (inside or outside De Universiteit);
★ Especially when you already have a date for that workshop;
★ Interested in learning how to guide or coach others in the process to host a workshop;
★ Interested in how we, at De Universiteit, go about designing workshops in the community.
This part two of 2-part workshop about Workshop Design. The first one (21 september) is/was about diving deep to find your uniqueness, your authenticity. And to figure out what workshop idea is in you.
Your host, Tijmen Rümke
